Rachel Balkovec gained a new title this year - Manager! She becomes the first female manager in affiliated professional baseball after being selected by the Yankees to manage their Low-A Tampa Tarpons, and we celebrate her as part of Women's History month.
Balkovec is no stranger to being in charge after serving as a hitting coach in the Yankees rookie-level Florida Complex League. She was also a coach in professional baseball for 10 years, becoming the first female full-time hitting coach for the Yankees in 2019.

Balkovec has an extensive background in analytics, and a pair of master's degrees in the science of human movement.
Balkovec began her career as a strength and conditioning coach with the Cardinals minor leagues before moving to the Astors to be their Latin American strength and conditioning coordinator. Now she is in charge, so just call her "Skipper".
