This week as part of Women's History Month, we introduce you to Fern Shollenberger, who was an AAGPBL All-Star.

Shollenberger was a six time All-Star in her nine AAGPBL seasons.

Known as “Sholly”, she played for the Kenosha Comets becoming one of the best third baseman both offensively and defensively.

Her off field activities would include her coaching the “Shollenbergers,” a girls softball team in the Junior Comet League sponsored by the Comets.

In 1950, the Comets lost the best-of-five league semi-final round to the Rockford Peaches, 3-1. who went on to win their third straight league title.

Following the 1951 season, Shollenberger joined the Kalamazoo Lassies, and in 1954 her and the Lassies would win the title and final AAGPBL game.
