Baltimore Black Sox
The Black Sox became charter members of the Eastern Colored League before joining the American Negro League and winning the pennant in 1929. In 1934 Jack Farrell, a black businessman from Pennsylvania took the team name for his franchise and entered the Negro National League for the second half of the season. The franchise folded following the season which left Baltimore without a black team until 1938 when the Elite Giants moved to Baltimore.
