#Spotlight – This week we pay tribute to #42. Today the history of Jackie Robinson.

Jackie Robinson played professional basketball for the Los Angeles Red Devils in 1947.

Jackie Robinson played for Pasadena recreational team in 1938 vs. White Sox, and Manager Jimmie Dykes said “If that Robinson kid was white, I’d sign him right now. No one in AL could make plays like that.”


Jackie would go on to be a 4 sport star at UCLA including Track & Field.


Robinson’s official negro leagues stats – 47 games, 63 hits, 14 doubles, 4 triples, 5 home runs, 13 stolen bases and a .387 average.

Jackie Robinson led MLB in steals as a rookie (29) including 3 steals of home.
