Despite struggling with health issues, Josh Gibson would lead the Homestead Grays to another Negro National League crown in 1945, batting .323.
In 1946, Gibson would go on a power tear:
- 440-foot home run at Yankee Stadium
- 457-foot blow in Pittsburgh
- 500-foot shot at Sportsman’s Park in St. Louis
- a ball that cleared the roof at Shibe Park in Philadelphia.

On January 20, 1947, Josh Gibson passed away.
THE JOSH GIBSON CAREER
- Officially, Josh Gibson would be credited with 107 home runs and a .350 average.
- Homestead Grays teams would win 9 league titles
- Unofficially he would hit over 800 homeruns
- 12 time All-Star
- 2 time Negro World Series Champion
- Washington National Ring of Honor
- 1972 Baseball Hall of Fame (along with Buck Leonard) becoming the 2nd and 3rd players behind Satchel Paige.
